Mike Tyson broke down what enhances his psychedelic high while visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week.
The 59-year-old boxer, who’s a plant medicine enthusias, discussed opting for healthier choices when he has the munchies. On the menu for the athlete are “a bunch of grapes,” Sumo Citrus oranges, and apples.
“I do a lot of psychedelics,” Tyson admitted before sharing that his usual go-to is mushrooms. “Every now and then I make a mistake and I take a little too much. I see a lot of interesting shit.”
Regarding his hallucinations, Tyson explained that he’s had a “fantasy” of turning into an alien who’s “cruising around trying to find the right people to do the right thing to.”
“To do the alien stuff to,” Kimmel suggested.
“Stuff they never heard of before,” the boxer joked.
Tyson went on to say he’s “felt God” while taking hallucinogenic toad venom, which typically comes from the toxins of Colorado River toad. When Kimmel asked if Tyson ever considered hosting a competition for participants to take toad venom, the athlete said it would be a “very interesting tournament.”
In a 2024 Interview Magazine feature, Tyson recalled how taking toad venom, which contains 5-MeO-DMT, caused him to have a “spiritual death.”
"I’ve dealt with death to the closest magnitude I ever could,” Tyson said in the feature. “But once you go through that process, you realize dying is beautiful. How could death be bad and life be beautiful? It’s a total contradiction."
