Legendary hip-hop hype man Flavor Flav is standing with gymnast Jordan Chiles after her bronze medal was stripped over the weekend.
It was reported that Chiles was to lose the Olympic bronze medal in the gymnastic floor finals due to her coach, Cecile Landi, allegedly being late in inquiring about her original fifth place score. After Chiles, 23, was bumped up two places on the scoreboard, the Romanian Olympic committee brought it to the attention of the Court of Arbitration, reinstating Chiles’ initial score of 13.666.
With Chiles back in fifth place, behind Romanian gymnasts Ana Barbosu and Sabrina Maneca-Voinea–both who finished at 13.700–the bronze medal will be reallocated to Barbosu.
The decision was an outrage to Team USA fans and Chiles teammates, including Simone Biles and Suni Lee, but it was especially a shock to Flavor Flav. In an X post, The Public Enemy member, who’s been quite charitable in recent months, offered Chiles a one-of-a-kind Flav-styled honor.
"Ayyy YOOOO @ChilesJordan ,,, imma make you a BRONZE CLOCK NECKLACE,,, and that’s something NO ONE else has,!!! Hit me up my girl,,, I gotchu,!!!" the 65-year-old posted on Sunday (August 11).
The USA Gymnastics team claims to have video evidence that Coach Landi's inquiry was submitted before the one-minute deadline as a part of the mission to reinstate Chiles' medal.
While Chiles' score is further investigated, Flav, who's attended the 2024 Paris Olympics this month, also paid the rent of track and field athlete Veronica Fraley, splitting the cost with entrepreneur Alexis Ohanian.
