Darron Lee, ex-NFL linebacker, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The victim was identified as his girlfriend.
The 31-year-old was taken into custody on Thursday (Feb. 5) after dispatchers arrived at the scene to a CPR in progress. First responders identified the woman and attempted life-saving measures before determining she was dead.
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim’s death was a result of a homicide, and Lee was taken into custody as a suspect. In addition to the murder charge, Lee was also charged with tampering of evidence. The victim’s identity is currently being withheld.
Lee is currently being held at the Hamilton County prison in Tennessee. He has a Feb. 11 court date.
The former football pro is no stranger to the law, having been arrested for domestic violence and assault in 2023.
Lee, who was a standout player at Ohio State University, eventually went on to play for the New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders and the Buffalo Bills until stepping away from the field in 2021 after being placed on injured reserve.
