Never at a loss for words, newly signed 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman defended the contract he just signed after NFL veteran and 10-time Pro Bowler Joe Thomas accused him of letting his ego get in the way of a bigger payday.

Thomas had been commenting on a Boston Globe article which broke down how Sherman was allegedly fleeced by the Niners due to the fact that he negotiated his own deal without an agent. The piece states that the reported 3-year/$39 million contract that Sherman put his name on is far from accurate, and that it was an incentive laden deal with no guaranteed dough beyond 2018.

As writer Ben Volin outlined:

As you can see, a lot of those are health-related. The soon-to-be 30-year-old Sherman was ruled out for the season last year after he ruptured his Achilles in Week 10.
