Ex-Seahawks and current Eagles defensive end Michael Bennett was indicted on Friday for an incident that allegedly occurred last February following the Patriots' 28-3 comeback win over the Falcons in the Super Bowl. According to Houston's KHOU11, a Harris County grand jury indicted Bennett for a felony charge of injury of the elderly. Bennett stands accused of injuring a 66-year-old paraplegic security guard who was tasked with controlling access to the field at the Texans' NRG Stadium, which was the site of Super Bowl 51:
Bennett was in attendance because his brother, tight end Martellus Bennett, was a member of the Patriots at the time. The report states that Michael had shoved his way onto the field in an effort to celebrate his brother's victory, injuring the woman in the process:
An arrest warrant is out for the three-time Pro Bowler on charges of "intentionally and knowingly causing bodily injury to a senior citizen." Those charges carry with them potential penalties of a $10,000 fine and up to 10 years in prison.
