On Thursday night, following the Cavs' 121-112 win over the Lakers, LeBron James and Lonzo Ball shared a moment that could only be speculated about (and was, by the way) because LeBron was covering his mouth with his jersey.
At least we thought it could only be speculated about. As it turns out, there's audio of the encounter because there is no new secret sharing technique to keep up with the constant advances of technology. The transcript was first posted by a Reddit user and was later confirmed by ESPN.
"Find your zone and just stay fucking locked in," James said to the L.A. rookie. "The media is going to ask you what I told you right now. Tell them nothing. Just be aggressive every single day. It's white noise to you. That's all it is. All right? Let's go."
Oops.
On that same note, LeBron told reporters "none of y'all business" when pressed about what secretive message he had for Ball. Additionally, the 20-year-old No. 2 overall pick followed that example by saying, "[LeBron] didn't tell me anything." After complimenting LeBron, and saying he was looking forward to playing against him for a long time, Lonzo was asked by a reporter if he would avoid playing him in the future by pitching him on signing with the Lakers (which isn't the first or last time that'll come up). To that question, Ball responded, "Nah, I didn't say nothing."
Hmmm. Given the actual contents of the message I'd say it was a little more fun when people were still speculating.
