LeBron James Isn’t Sure If He'll Visit the White House Again Once Trump Takes Office

LeBron James and the Cavaliers spent Thursday afternoon meeting with President Obama at the White House to celebrate their victory in the 2016 NBA Finals. But on Friday, LeBron was already talking about what he will do if the Cavs win the Finals again in the near future and get another invitation to meet with the president.

This has been a hot topic over the course of the last few days, with speculation swirling around whether or not athletes will continue to visit the White House over the next four years now that Donald Trump is preparing to take office. Some former and current athletes, like Richard Jefferson and Jalen Rose, believe that NBA and NFL teams will turn down invites from President Trump. But LeBron hasn't made up his mind yet with regards to what he will do if he wins a title during the Trump presidency. While speaking with reporters on Friday, he said he'll figure that out if and when the time comes. "I don’t know," he said. "That’s something I would cross...we’ll have to cross that road, I guess. We’ll see. I would love to have to cross that road." His answer seemed to be hedging on a trip to D.C., while simultaneously hedging on whether or not he thinks his team is guaranteed to win a title within the next four years.

As you probably know, LeBron campaigned on behalf of Hillary Clinton and put together an Instagram post following Trump's election night victory in an apparent effort to boost the morale of his followers. Additionally, he revealed that he and his wife, Savannah, stayed up until 4 a.m. on election night watching the results. "It’s very difficult seeing what happened not only in [Ohio] but our country," he said. "It is what it is. That’s the past. We’ve got to live in the present and [figure out] how we can make the future better."
