The Warriors Are Reportedly Bringing Extra Security for Kevin Durant's Return to OKC

In preparation for what is sure to be a contentious evening, Kevin Durant and his business manager, Rich Kleiman, have reportedly hired additional security for his return to Oklahoma City on Saturday night. The heightened safety detail of armed guards will triple the normal amount of security that the Warriors travel with, and a group will even have the specific task of supervising and protecting Kleiman and Durant's mother, Wanda, who will be seated next to Kleiman throughout the game.

While the Warriors won't have a shootaround as a result of the fact that they played last night against Memphis, Durant will reportedly not be "locked in his hotel room," as he has plans to go out and venture into OKC on Saturday morning/afternoon/possibly right now.

Furthermore, Durant is said to have reached out to Rich Paul, the agent of LeBron James, to learn about the type of hostile BS he may have to deal with during the contest. And, as it turns out, the additional security may have been a result of Paul telling KD of the importance of such a measure. Paul also told Durant to control his emotions, keep track of the whereabouts of his family, show appreciation to the Thunder organization, and not react to insults.

This is a basketball game we're talking about, right?

Grizzlies coach David Fizdale, who was an assistant on the Heat when LeBron made his first return to Cleveland, told ESPN that he doesn't believe the OKC crowd will bust Durant's balls as badly as Cleveland's busted LeBron's. "I remember coaching LeBron during a dead ball [very close to each other] and a battery flew between us," Fizdale said. "A nine-volt, and hit the floor. It was crazy. I don't think his situation is as volatile as that. And I think OKC fans, they're upset about it, but they got like a college fan base. They're just there to root their team on and really support their team. He's going to get booed, of course, but I don't think it will be as volatile."
