During their UFC 214 match on Saturday night in Anaheim, California, Jon Jones (23-1) once again acquired the title of "undisputed light heavyweight champion" after knocking out Daniel Cormier (19-2) in the third round. Cormier had previously held that title since May 2015 after it was vacated due to felony charges Jones faced following a serious car accident. The match was the first time the two men had faced off since Jones bested Cormier by unanimous decision at UFC 182 on January 3, 2015.
Following his most recent victory, Jones heaped praise upon his defeated foe. "I want to take this time to thank Daniel Cormier for being my biggest rival and motivator," he said. "He has absolutely no reason to hang his head. He has been a model champion, a model husband, a model father, a teammate, a leader, and I aspire to be a lot more like that man, because he's an amazing human being. Unfortunately, we were opponents, but outside of that, he is a true champion for the rest of his life."
He then pivoted to calling out Brock Lesnar, stating "Brock Lesnar, if you want to know what it feels like to get your ass kicked by someone who weighs 40 pounds less than you? Meet me in the Octagon."
As for what Brock had to say about Jones calling him out, he reportedly told the Associated Press, "Be careful what you wish for, young man."
