Eagles Blow Out Vikings to Advance to Super Bowl LII

The Eagles decimated the Vikings at home by a score of 38-7 to advance to the Super Bowl.

As a reward for their thrilling, highly improbable, last-second win over the Saints last week, the Minnesota Vikings got their asses kicked by the Eagles on Sunday night, losing by a final score of 38-7. The win for Philadelphia means that we'll all get to see a rematch of Super Bowl 39, which went down in 2005, and where the Patriots beat Philly by a score of 24-21. You may or may not be looking forward to that matchup but, whatever, either way, that's what you're getting.

As for Sunday evening, Minnesota actually briefly led by a score of 7-0 before all hell broke loose:

Less than four minutes after that opening score, Vikings quarterback Case Keenum tossed a 50-yard pick six to veteran cornerback Patrick Robinson that permanently pointed the momentum arrow at the home team:

17 Eagles points in the second quarter (including an 11-yard TD run by LeGarrette Blount and a 53-yard TD pass to Alshon Jeffery) put the game nearly out of reach by the half (I mean, it's not like they're playing Atlanta):

In the third quarter the floodgates opened, as five minutes in QB Nick Foles connected with Torrey Smith on a flea flicker for a 41-yard score:

In the fourth quarter Philly capped a 92-yard drive with a 5-yard TD pass to really rub Tabasco in the Vikes' peeholes:

Foles went 26-33 for 352 yards, three touchdowns, and zero picks, which seemed like something most Eagles fans weren't expecting when it was reported that original starting QB/MVP candidate Carson Wentz tore his ACL a little over a month ago.

As for the Vikings, it was a good run, but their loss ended their chances of getting to play in front of a home crowd at Minneapolis' U.S. Bank Stadium two weeks from tonight during the Super Bowl. Hmmm, guess Philly is a pretty good team with or without Wentz. What a difference a week makes.
