Following one generally pointless season in Chicago, the Bulls bought out Dwyane Wade's contract, making him free to sign with whatever team was willing to clear a spot on their roster for a 35-year-old with lots of miles on him.
Well, as you no doubt already figured out, that team was the Cleveland Cavaliers. The two sides reportedly agreed to a one-year deal worth the veterans minimum, $2.3 million, on Tuesday, even though it can't be official until Wednesday when Wade clears waivers:
In addition to marking a reunion with ex-Heat teammate LeBron James after three years apart, Wade will also join a team that expects to be without star point guard Isaiah Thomas until at least January.
As for Wade, last season, in 60 contests with a mediocre Bulls squad, he had averages of 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. During his 14-year NBA career he has averaged 23.3 points. 4.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists per night, respectively.
According to ESPN, in order to reach an agreement on a buyout with Chicago, Wade returned $8 million out of his $23.8 million salary to the team.
