According to multiple reports, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the partially-taxpayer funded new home of the Atlanta Falcons, will have a Chick-fil-A. This makes some sense, as the chain is headquartered in ATL. However, as anyone who eats Chick-fil-A knows, it's a restaurant that isn't open on Sundays, due to the founder's decision to keep the joint closed on the Sabbath, for both religious and employee welfare reasons. That includes the one in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
This seems like a bit of an oversight when it comes to the NFL, since, you know, that's the day when like, 90 percent of the games take place:
Yes, it's worth pointing out that there are concerts, soccer matches, and other events that will occupy the arena alongside the Dirty Birds. But there's a certain irony in the restaurant being closed on Sundays in a stadium that will be known as the Falcons' home field.
Unsurprisingly, people did not react positively to this news. But after spending the whole offseason getting made fun of for blowing a 28-3 late third quarter lead in the Super Bowl, we're guessing the Falcons can handle some mockery:
