A week ago Antonio Brown made it clear that, after nine seasons, he wanted out of Pittsburgh (as if there was any doubt anyway) by once again trying to nudge the Steelers to trade him, which has been a lingering theme since the end of the season:
Now, as for what team he wants to suit up for, he was a lot less fixed on the specifics, as he told ESPN that "any team who show[s] interest" would (in turn) catch his attention. Here he is with those comments that should perk up at least a few front offices:
Later (as in Monday night) he added to that by saying, via Instagram Live, that he also wants guaranteed money.
"If your squad want to win and you squad want a hungry wide receiver who's the best in the whole world, someone hit my phone," he said, according to Pro Football Talk. "Tell them I ain't doing no unguarantees. I ain't even gonna play myself no more for this NFL...I think I done everything."
"What y'all think? What's left for me to do? Win a Super Bowl? Gotta be the right team for that, right?...If your team got guaranteed money, they want to get to know me and work with me, tell them to call me." (Note that these comments start around 4:40 in this video):
Obviously, the Steelers don't need to trade him, but he's been angling hard for it (which is reportedly hurting his value, too), and team owner Art Rooney II admitted back in January that it's hard to "envision" Brown being back with the team when training camp creeps back around. Though Rooney also said there's no chance that Pittsburgh will outright release the seven-time Pro Bowler.
Brown had 104 catches for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2018 (that last one led the league), but in the last three months, he's also been found guilty of reckless driving (after not showing up in court), was accused of being involved in a domestic dispute, and also missed the Steelers' final game even though he wasn't injured. That last one is probably the biggest red flag from the standpoint(s) of potential suitors.
He is currently signed through the 2021 season.
