Nick Foles' hopes of starting fresh in Jacksonville were cut short.
The Super Bowl-winning quarterback left the game early into his Jacksonville debut against the Kansas City Chiefs. Foles hurt his non-throwing shoulder when he was sandwiched by the Chiefs' defense late in the first quarter. To add insult to this injury, Foles was hurt while exhibiting a technical football play.
The quarterback remained calm in the collapsing pocket and delivered a deep ball to D.J. Chark. While this earned the Jaguars a 35-yard touchdown, it might have cost them their starting QB.
After the hit, Foles was helped into the locker room to get medical attention. The Jags later ruled that Foles would be out for the game and rookie Gardner Minshew would finish out the rest of the contest.
Foles later returned to the sidelines before halftime with his left arm in a sling.
Foles has had his fair share of injuries in his career. After leading the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history, Foles missed out on a chance to earn a $1 million bonus because Philly went to the playoffs but injuries prevented him from playing 33 percent of the 2018-2019 season.
