Since the release of HBO's Leaving Neverland, multiple entities have separated themselves from Michael Jackson. The Los Angeles Lakers have become the latest brand to do so.
ESPN's Lakers correspondent Dave McMenamin reported that the organization will be removing "Beat It" from their "Air Band Cam."
Like the Lakers, some companies have chosen to distance themselves from the singer by removing his music from their line-up. Three Canadian stations owned by Cogeco Media have removed his music from their playlist.
But Los Angeles didn't pick the greatest replacement either. As reported, fans will now imitate Lance Stephenson's air guitar celebration to Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode." In 1959, Berry was found guilty of taking a 14-year-old girl across state lines for "immoral purposes," landing him in jail for two years. Thirty years later, the guitarist was given a suspended sentence for installing cameras in his restaurant's women's restrooms and then taking the tapes home.
