Knicks owner James Dolan is again the target of ridicule as his team sits in the league's cellar. But it seemed like he got tired of being a punchline as he banned a fan for suggesting he sell the team during New York's Saturday game against the Kings.
Dolan was hitting an early exit during New York's 102-94 loss to the Kings when a fan yelled at him to sell the team. This caught the 63-year-old's attention.
"You really think I should sell the team?" Dolan asked. "You want to not come to any more games?"
Dolan then called the fan's comments rude before security guards approached the outspoken attendee. According to TMZ, two cops and security took his ID before asking him to leave. Though it's unclear if he's permanently banned, MSG said in a statement that their "policy is and will continue to be that if you are disrespectful to anyone in our venues, we will ask you not to return."
"It's not an opinion," Dolan told the spectator. "And, you know, enjoy watching them on TV."
The fan's "rude" push for Dolan to sell the team follows news that he's looking to shop the Knicks. In December 2018, Dolan told ESPN's Ian O'Connor that he would sell the team if given "a bona fide" offer. These sentiments resurfaced following the NBA All-Star break when Bill Simmons claimed that Dolan is fielding offers for the franchise.
