Klay Thompson Reportedly 'Locked In' for 'Space Jam 2'

The sequel has been reportedly having trouble finding stars.

While other NBA stars have passed on Space Jam 2, LeBron James seems to have filled at least one role.

Jason McIntyre was talking about Klay Thompson's pending free agency on his radio show when he reported that the Warriors guard is "locked in" to co-star in the long-awaited sequel.

"Everybody thinks [Klay Thompson] is probably staying with the Warriors and I would agree with that. But I heard some news this week that could change things," McIntyre revealed. "That Klay Thompson is now 'locked in' to do 'Space Jam 2.' I don't think that news is anywhere."

LeBron and his camp have been hitting some roadblocks trying to find NBA players to be apart of Space Jam 2. Both Steph Curry and James Harden were ruled ineligible for roles as this will be a Nike-centric film and they do not have contracts with the company. Other stars like Kevin Durant, a Nike athlete, is reportedly too busy focusing on his own media aspirations to pair up with LeBron. Nike's Giannis Antetokounmpo bluntly declined saying, "I don't like Hollywood."

Thompson isn't a Nike athlete, but maneuvering around Klay's contract with China's Anta Sports brand is probably easier than haggling with direct competitors like Under Armour and Adidas. It's clear to see from Klay's trips to China that he has an international likability that will help the film.
