The Cowboys are looking to start a new chapter by hiring former Packers head coach, Mike McCarthy, as the team's new playcaller. McCarthy agreed to terms with Dallas on Monday, according to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer.
McCarthy was Green Bay's head coach from 2006–2018 and coached the Packers to a Super Bowl victory in 2011. Although Aaron Rodgers and McCarthy reportedly didn't see eye to eye, he is an offensive-minded coach that is praised for molding the quarterback position. His reputation is what likely drew the Cowboys to McCarthy. In fact, owner Jerry Jones was so sold on McCarthy that he reportedly let the coach spend the night at his house.
Coming into the season, there was a lot of excitement surrounding Dallas because of the weapons they have on the offensive side of the ball. Dallas showed flashes of their great potential, but inconsistent play led them to underperform. Now, the front office is hoping that McCarthy can get Dak Prescott to play at an MVP-level so that the team can capitalize on this window of opportunity.
