Golden State seems focused on keeping their initial core together.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Draymond Green and the Warriors have agreed to a four-year, $100 million maximum contract extension.

Prior to this agreement, Green was set to hit the free agency market next summer. If that were to happen, he would have been highly sought after. The three-time All-Star and former NBA Defensive Player of the Year is considered the anchor that kept the Warriors steady during their five-year finals run. To prevent losing such a pivotal piece of their franchise, the Warriors decided to extend Draymond the biggest offer they could.

This reinforces the faith Golden State has in the core of their team without Kevin Durant. Before they rewarded Green, the Warriors and Klay Thompson agreed to a five-year, $190 million contract during this summer's wild free agency.

Although both Thompson and Green received big paydays from the Warriors, it is clear their decision to stay with the team isn't about the money. While Green received the most cash he could at this point in his career, if he had waited until free agency he would've been able to seek out a bigger contract from the Warriors or another franchise. The choice to not even consider another option proves that Steph Curry, Klay, and Draymond are looking to continue building something special in the Bay.
