On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers released linebacker Reuben Foster following an arrest for domestic violence in Tampa Bay, Florida.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Foster was taken into custody around 9 p.m. on Saturday and was charged with first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence battery after assaulting a female victim at Tampa's Grand Hyatt hotel. The victim, Foster's ex girlfriend Elissa Ennis, claims he "slapped her phone out of her hand, pushed her in the chest area, and slapped her with an open hand on the left side of her face."

This is not the first time Ennis has accused Foster of abuse. In Feburary 2018, Foster was hit with three felony charges, including domestic violence, forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime, and possession of an assault weapon. Despite having video evidence, Ennis recanted her statements against Foster, resulting in the charges being dropped.

In the latest case, the Tampa Bay Police report visible bruises and "a one-inch scratch on the victim's left collarbone." After the news, the 49ers organization issued a short statement confirming they're parting ways with the linebacker.
