The X Games 16 are popping off today in L.A., and while we can't wait to peep the latest assortment of dope tricks and stunts, there's something else about the event that we're hyped to see: the crashes! Let's be real, for the casual viewer, Jake Brown ain't the dude known for his mastery of the 540. Nope, he's that guy that fell 45 muthafuckin' feet...and lived to tell about it. Call us bloodthirsty savages, but—as long as nobody catches a permanent injury—there's something inherently thrilling about seeing someone completely wipe the fuck out. With that in mind, here are the 10 worst crashes in Summer X Games history...

#10 Colin McRae

Sport: Rally Racing

When: X Games 12 (August 2006)

Injuries suffered: None reported

Complex says: McRae managed to cheat death in multiple accidents, such as this one in which his car flipped over before landing back on its wheels. Sadly, he would ultimately meet his demise—not in a car, but in a helicopter during a freak accident in 2007. R.I.P.

#9 Jamie Bestwick

Sport: Bicycle Motocross

When: X Games 14 (August 2008)

Injuries suffered: None reported

Complex says: Check out the crazy chick smiling as Jamie lies on the ground in pain (around 18 seconds into the video). Must be an ex-girlfriend.

#8 Jeremy Lusk

Sport: Freestyle Motocross

When:X Games 13 (August 2007)

Injuries suffered: None reported

Complex says: While Lusk walked away from this crash relatively unharmed, his luck ran out during a San Jose competition in 2009. He died from severe head injuries after failing to land a similar trick. R.I.P.

#7 Cameraman & Ronnie Faisst

Sport: Freestyle Motocross

When: X Games 13 (August 2007)

Injuries suffered: Cameraman knocked unconscious

Complex says: The unlucky camera man could have easily lost his life after being struck in the face by Ronnie's bike...but since he didn't, we have no problem LOLZing.

#6 Ronnie Faisst

Sport: Freestyle Motocross

When: X Games 13 (August 2007)

Injuries suffered: Broken foot

Complex says: Somewhere in the ER, you just know that cameraman was cheesing like crazy when he saw this. Karma's a bitch!

#5 Travis Pastrana

Sport: Freestyle Motocross

When: X Games 15 (August 2009)

Injuries suffered: Damaged back disks, bruised elbow, swollen hip

Complex says: Pastrana's no stranger to injuries, having reportedly suffered from 25 concussions and undergoing 23 surgeries throughout his career. Dude, might be time to hang it up.

#4 Max Anstie, Blake Wharton

Sport: Motocross

When: X Games 15 (August 2009)

Complex says: Only motocross riders can look this cool while completely busting their asses.

#3 Nixey Danielson

Sport: Freestyle Motocross

When: X Games 14 (August 2008)

Injuries Suffered: Broken legs, broken wrist

Complex Says: You always feel sorry for these dudes when they get injured as badly as Nixey did. Then you realize that these crazy bastards actually get some enjoyment out of their pain. "I got pins in my legs dude! Sweet!" And let's not forget the endorsement guap...

#2 Danny Way

Sport: Skateboarding

When: X Games 14 (August 2008)

Injuries suffered: Fractured ankle

Complex aays: Despite an injured ankle, Danny returned to the event and completed his final two runs, finishing in second. He ain't a legend for nothin', folks.
