At about 6:30 AM today, pilot Ken Gheysar was behind the wheel of a 1968 Piper aircraft, on his way to Palomar Airport in Carlsbad, CA, when the plane ran out of gas. The plane and it's four passengers managed to land safely on the southbound lanes of I-15, near Escondido, causing the off-ramp to be closed until later tonight. No explanations as to why the plane wasn't sufficiently fueled have yet been provided.
