A History of Celebrities Driving the Bugatti Veyron
What did you get for your birthday this year? Whatever it was, we're sure it wasn't as dope as what Beyonce got Jay-Z. No, it wasn't a new watch or a dictionary with the page for "double entendre" bookmarked. She bought him a brand-new Bugatti Veyron, the car that holds the record as the most expensive and fastest production car in the world. The Volkswagen-owned supercar is made to order for each of its buyers, so you can get it however the hell you want. We haven't seen Hov's yet, but we have money on the table that it's going to in his favorite hue of blue. Jigga's gift puts him among an elite class of celebrities, ones who thought it just to own a $1.2 million supercar that gets around eight miles to the gallon. There aren't many of them, but we rounded all of them up—even two who don't own one, but purport to for music's sake. Keep reading to check out our History of Celebrities Driving the Bugatti Veyron.
Tom Cruise
Where: Mission: Impossible 3 premiere, Hollywood
When: May 9, 2006
Complex says: With all the money he netted off one of the most bankable franchises in history, he copped himself the most expensive supercar on earth. Sigh, and to think: All that money and all those toys still couldn't help dude from going bat-shit crazy.
Nigo
Where: Tokyo
When: October 31, 2006
Complex says: When you order the million-dollar supercar, Bugatti can paint it whatever color you want. Unfortunately, none of those colors were good enough for BAPE's founder, Nigo. He went and painted it bright pink and draped it in his company's signature camo print. Classy? No, not at all.
Scott Storch
Where: "Built Like That" music video, Miami
When: February 26, 2007
Complex says: Fam, we're so sorry for making you watch such a shitty music video just to get the point of this piece across. Luckily for you, you only have sit through a couple seconds of the 35th worst hip hop fail of all time to see Scott Storch pushing his black-on-black Veyron.
Simon Cowell
Where: L.A.
When: March 10, 2008
Complex says: There are only five things you need to know about Simon Cowell: He's crazy rich, he only bags J. Los, he was kicked out of 16 schools before dropping out, he's an asshole, and he drives nothing but amazing automobiles like the Veyron you see up top.
Chris Brown
Where: Miami
When: June 8, 2009
Complex says: Since he left his Lambo on the side of the road after his bout with Rihanna, Breezy had to scoop another ride.
Jay Leno
Where: Big Dog Garage, Burbank, CA
When: January 25, 2010
Complex says: You knew he was going to be on this list, right? Jay Leno literally owns every other car on the road. He's automotive royalty—so much so that Bugatti brought the car to his garage to give him a tour of the newest addition to his collection.
Lil Wayne
Where: "Goodbye Video," Miami
When: February 9, 2010
Complex says: Before Weezy's first attempt at turning himself in, he made a heartfelt video for his fans, then peeled off in his new toy. That's how you go in.
Ralph Lauren
Where: Ouray, Colorado
When: July 19, 2010
Complex says: Here's the story: While driving with his girlfriend in Colorado, a member of the gtplanet.net forums spotted a Bugatti Veyron with the license plate "RXL 7". Figuring that he knew the founder of Polo lived in the area, he followed for miles and miles before finally getting a glimpse of the man behind the wheel. Lucky for him, Ralph is a nice guy. We don't advise doing this sort of thing with, say, DMX.
Birdman
Where: Miami
When: August 11, 2010
Complex says: Not to be outdone by his "son", Birdman Sr. copped himself a blooded-out Veyron and had Derrick G shoot a short movie about it. Priceless.
T-Pain
Where: Unknown
When: November 24, 2010
Complex says: We're not sure if T-Pain felt slighted because he wasn't invited to be a Bugatti Boy with Diddy and Rozay, or if he just felt like stunting. According to him, he was celebrating the release of his latest single and "All I Do is Win" hitting the double-platinum mark. Good for him. At least he didn't buy another big-ass chain.
Bugatti Boys (Diddy and Rick Ross)
Where: "Another One" music video
When: November 28, 2010
Complex says: This wasn't the first time Diddy pushed a Veyron. He had one in his "Hello, Good Morning" video. But we felt best to let him rock with his fellow Bugatti Boy, Rick Ross. We couldn't make this list without including these two BFFs.
