Travis Hunter is coming to the defense of his fiancée Leanna Lenee, following his Heisman Trophy victory.
Clips from him winning the award on Saturday night show Lenee appearing apathetic while the Colorado Buffaloes player took photos with fans at his event. The couple also appeared to have a serious conversation at one point.
Hunter later took to Twitch to reveal that Lenee got drunk and cried herself to sleep after receiving so much criticism for her behavior.
“You ain’t never had no girl so why are y’all talking about me?” Hunter said on a livestream. “Find someone else to talk about… Go talk about your girl. Go find a girl. Go find a life. Stop worrying about what I got going on. I know what I got. My girl been with me for five years. Y’all are just now starting to talk about me… y’all go do something else with y’all life.”
“Y’all hate on me then you go hate on my girl,” he added. “I feel the same thing that she feels. We’re inseparable. We’re with each other. If she’s hurting I’m hurting [and vice versa]… she’s still sleeping. She’s lump. You know when you’re hurt you just cry yourself to sleep and you be gone. She’s drunk OD amount tonight for no reason.”
He also said that he and Lenee were trying to coordinate some family plans for later that night to explain why she looked miserable.
“I don’t want her to go to sleep sad,” Hunter said. “It’s hard on me because I can’t even help her.”
In another clip from Hunter’s award ceremony, Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders prompts Lenee to stand up and applaud Hunter. The 21-year-old used the moment to dismiss rumors that Lenee wasn't really in love with him.
The couple has faced scrutiny before. Lenee previously admitted in an Instagram Live session with Travis that she wasn't initially attracted to him. The pair got engaged in February after publicizing their relationship in 2022.
