Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney has some strong words for any rowdy and riotous fans who are considering attending the Eagles' Super Bowl championship parade. “The small number of knuckleheads should stay home,” Kenney told NBC Sports Philadelphia on Tuesday, while announcing the details of the parade.
“Every city that’s gone through this—has had this celebration—there’s always somebody, some element of people who do this. There were literally tens of thousands of people on the street, and the knucklehead contingent was extremely small.” The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and go on for almost two hours.
The Eagles beat the Patriots 41-33 on Sunday night, their first Super Bowl win in franchise history. However, total chaos erupted in Philly’s streets afterward. The morning of the Super Bowl, Philly police even drenched light poles with waterproof hydraulic fluid to prevent fans from climbing them, but to no avail: Fans still climbed poles, scaled fences, jumped off awnings, and started fires. Here’s hoping that the parade remains safe.
