Cam Newton’s life changed after he left the NFL in 2021.
Now, three years later, the former Carolina Panther opened up about how that’s impacted him and his eight kids over the last three years, particularly since he doesn’t have NFL money anymore.
"I'm going into a different phase of my life that's going to require a different form of myself," Newton recently said on the reality show, Special Forces. "Being in the NFL, everyone knows there's a large sum of money that comes to you in a short span of time and being away from the game for three years, those checks don't came in the same. Like, I got eight kids."
Newton added, "It hurts me knowing that I can't provide like I once did. It hurts thinking that I'm Superman, but in reality, I'm just a man.”
He continued, "There's a famous quote that says in order to get something that you've never had, you go to do something that you've never done. At 35, I can literally say, 'Okay now I'm getting prepared for this next chapter of my life.'"
Cam is a father to eight kids. He shares three sons—Chosen Sebastian, Camidas Swain, and Cashmere Saint—and one daughter, Sovereign-Dior Cambella with ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor, and helps raise her older daughter, Shakira. Newton also has a son named Caesar with LaReina Shaw and helps raise her older son, Jaden.
Most recently, Newton and his current girlfriend, Jasmin Brown, welcomed their first child together, a baby girl in March 2024.
Newton is currently in Season 3 of Special Forces: World's Toughest Test, which follows 16 celebrities and former athletes as they take on challenges in the Special Forces selection process.
Also included in the season are former NFL player Golden Tate, as well as Denise Richards, Stephen Baldwin, Kayla Nicole, Kyla Pratt, Brody Jenner, Jordyn Wieber, and Nathan Adrian, among others.
