Trae Young Puts Up 43 Points in Oklahoma's OT Win Over TCU

Is there anything the freshman point guard can't do?

Trae Young has proven to be an unstoppable force.

The 19-year-old point guard has become the biggest story of the Big 12 season, putting up impressive numbers for Oklahoma, where he leads the nation in both scoring and assists.

On Saturday, the 6’2 freshman led the Sooners to an exciting 102-97 overtime win over Texas Christian University, becoming the first major-conference athlete within the last two decades to secure 40 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 three-pointers in a single game, as pointed out by ESPN.

Young secured a career-high 43 points during Saturday’s matchup in addition to nabbing 11 rebounds, seven assists, and nine turnovers. These are notable numbers, no doubt; however, Young shined from behind the arc, where he knocked down 10 of 18 three-pointers.

It’s no wonder why Young has continued to draw comparisons to Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, who has also become one of the young hooper's biggest fans.

“Just the confidence that he plays with,” Curry told reporters following last week’s game against the Mavericks. “I call it the flair, but it seems like he's always composed and knows what he's trying to do every time he has the ball in his hands. He shoots a lot of deep 3's and has a creativity to his game that's just so fluid to watch.”
