NBA Board of Governors Approve Rule Changes for 2018-19 Season

The changes will be implemented at the beginning of the 2018 NBA preseason.

The NBA has approved several rule changes that will take effect in the 2018-19 pre-season.

The association’s board of governors announced the decision in a press release Friday, about a month after the NBA Competition Committee proposed the alterations that were passed unanimously: The shot clock will be reset to 14 seconds following an offensive rebound; the clear-path foul rule has been simplified; and the hostile act definition has been expanded for purposes of instant replay reviews.

The 2018-19 NBA pre-season will kick off Sept. 28.
