According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the All-Star center has agreed to a five-year, $190 million super-maximum extension with Minnesota. The news arrives amid uncertainty around Jimmy Butler’s future with Minnesota.
Towns had one year left on his $25.7 million rookie contract that he inked in 2015 when Minnesota selected him with the first overall pick. ESPN points out Town’s extension allows him to earn 30 percent of the team’s salary cap “with the fulfillment of reaching one of the three All-NBA teams, or being voted league MVP or Defensive Player of the Year this season.”
