The Minnesota Lynx beat the Los Angeles Sparks 77-74 on Tuesday night to advance to 25-5 on the season and assume sole possession of the best record in the WNBA. But after the game, all anyone wanted to talk about was a touching moment involving ESPN reporter Holly Rowe—and for good reason. Rowe has been battling cancer over the course of the last few months, but she continues to put in work for ESPN in spite of it. She even went "topless" for the first time on TV while covering the Lynx/Sparks game and worked without a wig during the contest:
So in the middle of an in-game interview during her team’s game against the Sparks, Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve dismissed a basketball-related question from Rowe and instead took a few moments to acknowledge her for the way she’s courageously fighting cancer.
"Holly, no matter what’s going on in the game, what’s more important is what’s going on with you," Reeve said. "We are so proud of your strength and your fortitude and the way that you’re tackling breast cancer…We are so proud of you and we stand with you and we think you’re absolutely amazing."
Rowe responded by thanking Reeve and by trying to slip in another basketball-related question, but Reeve wasn’t having any of it.
"Nothing that we’re doing today is as important as what you’re doing," Reeve said.
