Do you remember the time a young Kyrie Irving challenged Kobe Bryant to a game of 1-on-1 back in 2012?

Irving does!

During a Team USA workout in Las Vegas, Irving—who had just been drafted by the Cavaliers—started talking trash to Kobe and told him that he could beat him in a game of 1-on-1. He also told him that he would gladly put $50,000 on the line in order to entice Kobe to accept his challenge. And while the two never ended up playing, it made for a really memorable moment.

While speaking with NBA.com earlier this week, Irving was reminded of the moment and asked to talk about it. He was also asked whether or not he thinks Kobe would still accept his offer in 2016. Irving said he definitely remembers what took place and added that he knows Kobe would still hold his own in the trash-talk department if Irving challenged him again.

Here what Irving had to say about the epic challenge:

A game of 1-on-1 between the two players would have been fun in 2012. But in 2016? Don’t even think about it, Kobe. You have a reputation to uphold.
