Over the last six months, Dana White has been very pessimistic whenever he’s been asked about the possibility of a potential Floyd Mayweather/Conor McGregor fight taking place. Back in October, he deaded some of the initial rumors about it. In February, he said Mayweather and McGregor were "nowhere" with regards to their negotiations for the fight. And while he did make Mayweather what he thought was a reasonable offer for the fight in January, the boxer laughed at that offer, which seemed to show just how far apart the two sides actually were when it came to agreeing to financial terms for the fight.

It looks like he’s done a complete 180, though, in his thinking. White appeared on Conan on Wednesday night, and he spoke with Conan O’Brien about the fight. He very easily could have dispelled all of the recent rumors and said, "Yeah, it’s not happening," but instead, he chose to add some fuel to the fire by suggesting that the fight will happen at some point in the near future, even though a deal for it hasn’t been reached yet.

"I do think it’s going to happen," he said. "I think it’s going to be a tough deal, because obviously, there are a lot of egos involved in this deal and a lot of people, so that always makes it tougher. [But] on the flip side, there’s so much money involved, I just don’t see how it doesn’t happen."

White also went on to say that he thinks McGregor could give Mayweather some problems in the ring. He didn’t go as far as to say that McGregor will win the fight. But he did say that it could be more interesting than some people might think.

"A lot of things make this fight intriguing," White said. "Conor McGregor is huge. He’s in the prime of his career. Floyd is 40. Floyd has always had problems with southpaws; Conor is a southpaw, and Conor hits hard. When he hits people, they go. Floyd is definitely not knocking him out. That’s for sure. I’m not saying Conor would win this boxing match, but it sure makes it interesting."

You can check out a clip from White’s Conan interview above. His comments come on the heels of UFC fighter Michael Bisping saying that he believes Mayweather is going to agree to a fight with McGregor because he heard the boxer was "scammed out of a lot of money" recently.
