According to the folks at IMDB, "Rookie of the Year" was a 1993 film that was based upon the following premise:

"When an accident miraculously gives a boy an incredibly powerful pitching arm, he becomes a major league pitcher for the Chicago Cubs."

Yeah, we're not feeling it either, and considering the movie received a rating of just 5.9 out of 10 from a total of more than 16,000 of the site's users, neither was the general public.

But that isn't stopping the actor who played the kid in the film from heading to Chicago to bring the team good luck as it attempts to climb out of a three-game hole in the NLCS.

"Usually when I go to the game, I wear the jersey the Cubs made for me with my last name, Nicholas, on it, but I called the team and I said, 'Can you make a Rowengartner jersey for me?,'" Nicholas told ESPN.com late Tuesday night. "I've never done that. I haven't worn a Rowengartner jersey since the movie, but I feel like we kind of need it right now. It's kind of like my rally cap."

Good luck with all of that, Cubs fans. We're sure this is exactly what the team needs in order to turn things around.
