Graphic details have emerged in the arrest of 2x Super Bowl champion and former Tom Brady teammate Shaq Mason.

A report from TMZ Sports says Mason was taken into custody Wednesday, August 27, after allegations of a domestic assault. Mason was arrested in Franklin County, Tennessee during a traffic stop shortly after the incident took place in a nearby residence.

Citing legal documents, TMZ reports Mason allegedly broke into the home of the mother of his child around 3 am and made his way into her bedroom where he allegedly choked her out.

The report states Mason also allegedly threatened to kill the woman. Upon speaking to the woman, officers say they noticed a laceration on her lip. What's more, the TMZ report says Mason had also sent a selfie to the woman with the comment "I'm going to kill you."

Mason is reportedly set to go to court for a hearing on the matter in October, but currently remains in police custody. He has not commented publicly on the situation.

Mason played his college career at Georgia Tech before he was drafted by the New England Patriots in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

The offensive lineman played with the Patriots from 2015-2021 and helped the team win two Super Bowls—2017 against the Atlanta Falcons and in 2019 against the Los Angeles Rams.

Mason was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2022 season where he reunited with Tom Brady.

Mason was then traded to the Houston Texans in 2023 where he signed a 3-year, $36 million contract extension. Mason started every game for the Texans in 2023 and started 15 games for the team in 2024.

However, he was released by Houston in March 2025 after his impact on the field during the 2024 season had declined.
