John Wall says he's done playing in the NBA, announcing his retirement from the league after 11 seasons.

The five-time NBA All-Star posted a video to social media titled "Retired but never done. Doing it the #WallWay" on Tuesday, August 19 letting fans know of his decision.

Highlights from Wall's entire career flashed throughout the video, from his early days to professional playing days in the NBA.

Wall says, "I’ve been chasing a ball since I could barely walk. I gave this game everything I had. Every jersey I’ve worn meant more than just wins and stats. It was about representing something bigger. It’s something I couldn’t do without you."

He then goes on to thank his family, saying, "To my family, my mom especially, thank you for all your sacrifices. I hope I made you proud. To my teammates, trainers and coaches— thank you for believing in me. And to the fans, you made me feel unstoppable."

He adds, "Today, I’m stepping off the court but not away from the game. Basketball will always be in my life. As new opportunities present themselves, I feel confidently that now is the time to walk into my next chapter. Thank you for every cheer, every moment."

Wall concludes the video by saying, "Retired but never done. I’m doing it the Wall way."

The Washington Wizards selected Wall with the first overall pick back in 2010. He went on to play nine seasons with the franchise, become a prominent face in the league.

Wall was later traded to the Houston Rockets before signing with the Los Angeles Clippers. He played his last game as a pro in January 2023 before an abdominal strain officially sidelined him from ever stepping on the court again.

Wall finishes his career among NBA’s top 50 in total assists, and top 300 in scoring and points.
