Hamlin's tattoo took several artists all working at the same time to complete.

Damar Hamlin is turning one of the worst days of his life into some incredible art thanks to a massive new tattoo on his back.

Tattoo artist Ganga showed off the recent work he did for Hamlin commemorating the day the NFL player went into cardiac arrest on the field in a matchup between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Across the top of Hamlin’s back is the phrase, “Did we win?” Those words are what Hamlin reportedly asked his medical team when he regained consciousness at the hospital.

The new ink—which covers the Buffalo Bills safety’s entire back also features some other tributes to the Monday Night Football game when Hamlin suffered his medical emergency. The MNF logo is on there, as is a “Pray for Damar 3” flag … a slogan that became very popular among fans and players around the NFL as Hamlin recovered from the cardiac arrest.

Hamlin also got Bo Jackson’s tweet incorporated in the new tattoo which read, “Dear @HamlinIsland, The question you asked, “Did we win?" The answer to that is yes, we did win. The very second you opened your eyes, the nation celebrated and cheered. So to answer your question, hell yeah we won young man!!”

Apparently it took a whole crew to bring the ink to life, as Ganga’s video shows multiple tattoo artists working on the shading of the piece all at the same time.

It was January 2023 when Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after making a tackle against the Bengals. He collapsed on the field and medical professionals immediately started administering CPR as he was rushed to the hospital where he eventually regained consciousness and went on to make a full recovery.

Doctors believe Hamlin’s cardiac arrest was caused by commotio cordis, which happens when a blow to the chest disrupts the heart’s rhythm.

As for the game, it was suspended and never replayed.
