Ric Flair has once again stirred conversation about his future in wrestling—this time with a measured acknowledgment that another match has been discussed, even after repeatedly saying his career in the ring is over.

During a virtual signing with K & S WrestleFest on Saturday, February 7, the 76-year-old Hall of Famer was asked whether he had one more bout left.

Flair confirmed that he had been approached about a potential match with fellow WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Morton, but stopped well short of making any promises.

“Somebody wants me to wrestle Ricky Morton. I’m thinking about it,” Flair said. He emphasized that the discussion was not driven by money, calling the proposed financial terms “way off,” and framed the idea more as motivation than intent. “It’s just something to motivate me,” he added.

The comments quickly drew attention because of Flair’s complicated retirement history. His last official match took place on July 31, 2022, in Nashville at Ric Flair’s Last Match, where he teamed with Andrade El Idolo to defeat Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.

While the bout ended in victory, it raised immediate health concerns. Flair later revealed that he passed out twice from dehydration and believed he suffered a heart attack during the match.

In the aftermath, Flair publicly regretted marketing the event as his definitive farewell. By September 2022, he stated that he would never retire, only to reverse course again in January 2024, saying there would be “no return to the ring ever.”

After speculation reignited from the WrestleFest appearance, Flair issued a direct clarification on social media. “First, let me clear something up! I will never wrestle again,” he wrote, shifting focus to upcoming appearances and promotional events rather than competition.

His daughter, Charlotte Flair, reinforced that position. Responding to a post suggesting her father was considering another match, she replied succinctly: “Absolutely not.”

Since stepping away from active competition, Ric has remained visible in wrestling through a non-wrestling role with All Elite Wrestling, which he joined in 2023. He has not wrestled for the promotion but has appeared as an on-screen personality.
