Michelle Kwan has added another major milestone to her life off the ice.

Per People, the Olympic medalist and retired figure skating icon revealed that she has quietly welcomed her second child, sharing the news with fans just days before the holidays.

Kwan, 45, announced the arrival of her new baby girl on Instagram on December 11, posting a carousel of personal moments that documented both the journey and the reveal.

The first image shows Kwan cradling her newborn in a hospital room, followed by snapshots that include her 3-year-old daughter, Kalista Belle Kwan, and a holiday ornament featuring the growing family.

“Christmas came early ❤️,” Kwan wrote in the caption. “I’m overjoyed to share that our baby girl — Della Rose Kwan — has arrived!” She added that her “heart doubled in an instant” when she first held Della and described the emotional moment when Kalista walked into the hospital to meet her baby sister.

True to form, Kwan kept her pregnancy private until after the birth, mirroring how she introduced Kalista to the world in 2022. One of the final slides in her post features a time-lapse video showing her baby bump growing over several months, culminating in her holding Della in her arms.

In her caption, Kwan reflected on a long and often unpredictable fertility journey. She shared that she had always dreamed of becoming a mother but wasn’t sure it would be possible after years of trying.

She previously referred to Kalista as her “miracle” baby and described welcoming Della as another moment that felt almost unreal after more than a decade of hoping.

Kwan also spoke about how pregnancy reshaped her understanding of her own strength. As a world-class athlete, she pushed her body to extremes throughout her career, but said carrying another life gave her an even deeper appreciation for what the body can endure.

She closed her message by offering support to others navigating infertility, acknowledging the lack of control that often comes with the process and encouraging families to feel supported as they build toward parenthood.

The announcement drew warm reactions from across the sports world, including congratulations from fellow Olympians Tara Lipinski, Allyson Felix, and Apollo Ohno.
