Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was arrested in South Los Angeles on multiple weapons charges and is being held without bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).

According to NBC Sports, South Los Angeles Station deputies stopped the 32-year-old NFL veteran for alleged vehicle code violations at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, August 1. During the stop, deputies say they discovered five firearms in Perryman’s vehicle, including two assault-style rifles. He was arrested at 9:41 p.m. and booked at 10:06 p.m.

In a statement, LASD said Perryman was “extremely cooperative” with deputies throughout the investigation. Jail records indicate he is scheduled to appear in court at Inglewood Court on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. As of Saturday, Perryman remained in custody without bail.

Perryman’s agent, Ron Butler, said the linebacker and his team are gathering information and working with legal counsel. “While I can’t speak to the details at this time, we’re confident things will be handled appropriately through the legal process,” Butler told ESPN.

A representative for the NFL did not immediately return requests for comment. The Los Angeles Chargers issued a brief statement noting the organization is aware of the situation and is gathering more information.

Drafted by the franchise in 2015 when it was still the San Diego Chargers, Perryman played roughly five seasons in his first stint with the team before stops with the Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers, and Houston Texans. He rejoined the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 and was expected to start and play a significant role in the team's inside linebacker rotation this season.

The arrest marks a developing legal situation for a key defensive player on the Los Angeles Chargers roster as training camp ramps up. Authorities have not released additional details beyond the initial report of five firearms being recovered during the traffic stop.
