The 2026 FIFA World Cup is barely underway, and Suzy Cortez is already promising to become part of the conversation. The Brazilian model, who has spent years building a reputation as one of Lionel Messi's most dedicated—and controversial—fans, says she has a major tribute planned if Argentina wins another World Cup. According to Cortez, it will top every public display of support she's made for the soccer icon so far.
"I've already done tattoos to celebrate Messi's achievements, but this time I want to do something even bigger and more memorable," Cortez told Brazilian outlet Band. "I'm planning new tattoos in intimate areas of the body, and I believe it will be a tribute that will surprise and shock the world."
That's a bold statement coming from someone whose admiration for Messi has already sparked headlines across multiple countries.
Cortez first gained international attention during Messi's dominant years with FC Barcelona, regularly celebrating his accomplishments with photos, social media posts, and tattoos dedicated to the Argentine captain. Over time, her fandom became a story in its own right, transforming her into a recurring figure in Messi-related headlines.
Now she's taking that devotion on the road.
Cortez has said she plans to follow Argentina’s World Cup campaign in the United States, despite being Brazilian. While many fans in her home country will be backing Brazil, Cortez has made it clear where her loyalties lie.
"I have always identified more with Argentine football, with the passion of the fans and with the history of the national team," she said. "I am a great admirer of Lionel Messi, and I have followed his career for many years."
The tattoos may not be the only surprise. Cortez hinted that she has additional plans in store throughout the tournament.
"I am preparing some special actions and surprises for Argentina's games in the United States," she said. "Those who follow me know that I like to live football with passion, creativity, and a lot of good humor."
Her World Cup plans also arrive against the backdrop of long-running claims involving Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo. Cortez has repeatedly claimed that Antonela Roccuzzo blocked her on social media after she publicly expressed admiration for Messi years ago.
Meanwhile, Messi enters the tournament amid another major milestone. Beyond leading Argentina's title defense, the global superstar recently expanded his footprint in the sport by acquiring Spanish club UE Cornellà, adding team owner to a résumé that already includes eight Ballon d'Or trophies and a World Cup title.
