LeBron James is bringing a different kind of hometown assist to Akron.
According to an official announcement on the House Three Thirty website, on January 23, the basketball icon is helping launch The Main Thing Skills Summit, a free, one-day job fair and career development event designed to connect local job seekers with real-world tools, employers, and opportunities—all under one roof.
The summit is a collaboration between UNINTERRUPTED, Indeed, and the LeBron James Family Foundation. It will take place at House Three Thirty, the community hub created by the foundation to support job training, entrepreneurship, and family resources in Akron.
Unlike a traditional job fair that focuses only on resumes and applications, The Main Thing Skills Summit is built around skill-building and confidence. Attendees will have access to hands-on career tools powered by Indeed, along with networking sessions and discussions with leaders from companies like Sherwin-Williams, Chase, Garda, and House Three Thirty itself.
The goal is to help participants better understand how their existing skills translate across industries—and how to present themselves effectively to employers.
One of the featured conversations will spotlight Cleveland-based restaurateur Doug Petkovic, who will speak about leadership, career growth, and navigating professional pivots. The evening wraps with a more relaxed community moment: House Three Thirty’s signature R&B Sing-Along after-party.
The event reflects a long-running throughline in James’ off-court work: investing in infrastructure, not optics. Through the LeBron James Family Foundation, initiatives like the I PROMISE School, I PROMISE Village, and job training programs at House Three Thirty are designed to support families well beyond graduation day.
Founded by James and Maverick Carter, UNINTERRUPTED has built its platform around athlete-driven storytelling and community impact, while Indeed brings its global reach as the world’s most-used job site into the mix.
The Main Thing Skills Summit takes place Friday, January 23, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. ET at House Three Thirty, located at 532 W. Market Street in Akron, Ohio. Registration is free and open to the public.
