LeBron James is weighing in on a viral sideline moment that had college football fans talking all weekend, calling for the immediate suspension of a Texas state trooper involved in a confrontation with two South Carolina players.

“That A&M cop needs to [be] suspended!” James wrote on X, adding that the officer “went out [of] his way to start some sh-t.”

According to People, the moment that sparked the reaction unfolded during Saturday’s matchup between Texas A&M and South Carolina at Kyle Field.

South Carolina’s Nyck Harbor and Oscar Adaway III were heading through the stadium tunnel—right after Harbor hauled in an 80-yard touchdown—when video captured a Texas state trooper stepping into Adaway’s path.

The clip appears to show the trooper bumping the player and immediately turning around to point at both athletes as if reprimanding them.

The footage circulated fast, landing on timelines across football Twitter and drawing responses from fans, athletes, and former pros.

James echoed the frustration shared in those reactions, reposting the video on November 15 and urging disciplinary action. “That was premeditated and corny AF!!” he wrote, telling the officer to “Do better man.”

James wasn’t the only high-profile figure calling out the moment. Former NFL tight end Benjamin Watson also criticized the behavior on social media, writing, “This is trash by this clown. Shoving players. Seriously. What are you doing?!”

As the clip continued to gain traction, the Texas Department of Public Safety addressed the incident publicly.

In a statement shared to the agency’s X account, DPS confirmed that “The DPS Trooper involved was sent home from the game.” According to the department, the Office of Inspector General is reviewing the situation further. “Our Office of Inspector General (OIG) is also aware of the incident and will be further looking into the matter,” they wrote, adding that no additional details would be released at this time.
