Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is now a minority owner of the English soccer club Birmingham City.
The former NFL superstar, who retired "for good" earlier this year, is set to become the chairman of the advisory board at Birmingham F.C., who compete in the EFL Championship. The news comes after NFL legend J.J. Watt and former U.S. midfielder Kealia Watt announced they were becoming minority owners of Burnley F.C. in May.
"So here's the deal. I'm officially coming on board at Birmingham City Football Club," said Brady in a video announcing the news. "And maybe you're asking, 'What do you know about English football, Tom?' Well, let's just say, I've got a lot to learn. But I do know a few things about winning and I think they might translate pretty well. I know success starts with the work put in when the world isn't watching. I know that a team is nothing without the city that shows up and stands behind it. Most importantly, I know I like being the underdog."

At Birmingham F.C., Brady will work with the club across various components including health and nutrition programs, as well as advising on potential partnership opportunities.
“Birmingham City is an iconic club with so much history and passion and to be part of the Blues is a real honor for me," added Brady in a statement. "BCFC is built on teamwork and determination and I’m excited to work alongside the board, management and players to make our Second City club second to none. I’ve been part of some amazing teams in my day, and I’m looking forward to applying my perspective to create that same success here in Birmingham.”
Earlier this year, Brady acquired an ownership stake in WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces. “I am very excited to be part of the Las Vegas Aces organization,” Brady said in a statement. “My love for women’s sports began at a young age when I would tag along to all my older sisters’ games—they were by far the best athletes in our house! We celebrated their accomplishments together as a family, and they remain a great inspiration to me.” Just days later, he expanded his ownership in the area by acquiring a minority stake in the Raiders, too.
Last month, it was reported that Brady was in a relationship with model Irna Shayk just nine months after his divorce from Gisele Bündchen.
