Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold, 23, has been arrested in Florida on multiple charges of kidnapping and armed robbery.
As reported by CBS Sports, Arnold was arrested on Wednesday (June 24) on four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery for his alleged involvement in an incident at an Airbnb property in Largo, Florida, on Feb. 4.
During his stay at the property, Arnold and the group staying with him were allegedly robbed while they were out of the house. Multiple items, totaling $250,000, were allegedly stolen.
Arnold and his associates are accused of taking matters into their own hands, believing the private driver they hired during their time at the house played a part in the robbery despite police eventually clearing him of wrongdoing.
The group allegedly lured the driver and two other men to an apartment, where they jumped and held the individuals at gunpoint. Arnold was not at the apartment at the time, but police asserted that his two associates, Lyndell Hudson II and Christion Williams, set up a livestream so Arnold could watch the incident. They also took some of the men’s property, police added.
The three victims reported the incident to the police after they were let go by Arnold’s crew. A total of seven people, including Arnold, have been arrested as part of the police investigation. Authorities claim that they discovered a group chat in which Arnold and others discussed their plans.
“Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence,” his attorneys said in a statement. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences. Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication.”
If found guilty of the eight felony charges he’s facing, Arnold could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
