In an official announcement through WWE's website, Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff have been named the new executive directors of WWE. Heyman will be taking on the role of Monday Night Raw director, while Bischoff will serve as SmackDown LIVE director. They will both report to WWE chairman and CEO Vince McMahon.

For those unfamiliar with Heyman, the 53-year-old writer, producer, and performer previously served as ECW president from '93-'01. He has also appeared onscreen as Brock Lesnar's manager, but for the most part he has remained behind the scenes. The 64-year-old Bischoff, meanwhile, has served as an executive producer and later president of WCW. He's been involved with the world of wrestling since the '80s.

Bischoff first started working with WWE in 2002, where he was the Raw general manager. He left the company in 2007, but he occasionally made a reappearance and most recently did so last year for the Raw 25th Anniversary show.

Fans appear to be split, due to McMahon's continued involvement.

The new executive director roles were created by McMahon for Heyman and Bischoff.
