Matt Barnes Emotionally Says He 'Lost My Family' Following Cheating Allegations

His ex-fiancée Anansa Sims responded on social media and told him to keep their issues private.

During a recent episode of his podcast All the Smoke, former NBA journeyman Matt Barnes emotionally revealed he "lost [his] family" because of his own actions months after his fiancée Anansa Sims accused him of cheating.

While discussing the last time he cried, admitting that he probably hadn't done it since he got beat up as a child, Barnes admitted he's starting to feel the effects of being emotionally reserved for so long. "I'll be 45 next week, like, I'm starting to feel it now," he said around the 25-minute point of the chat, seen above. "I'm almost pouring from an empty cup... Through my actions, I literally just lost my family."

He said that his role as the "strong provider" in the family, it didn't allow him to be as emotionally available in his relationship as he should've been. "I wasn't there emotionally, I wasn't empathetic," he said. "I wasn't willing to share those emotions." He added that his ex-partner would often tell him that he was like "a wall," and admitted that he's "too" guarded emotionally and hasn't cried in around 30 years.

In a since-deleted post shared on Instagram, Barnes' ex-fiancée Anansa Sims reacted to the moment, per The Shade Room.

"If you're going to talk publicly about our personal business, tell the whole story," she wrote. "Don't post half-truths about me and our past relationship to gain sympathy from the masses. I'm in the trenches doing the hard work making sure all of our kids are ok. You've made no effort to emotionally support all of our children through this traumatic transition you caused, but you're willing to be 'vulnerable' for strangers on the gram for profit? Please keep my name out of your mouth."

She went on to write that she hasn't said anything about him following their split and asked him to consider the impact his behavior has on their children. "If you want to do some good, please don't talk about me, go get consistent therapy and most important start building a relationship with God," she concluded.

In January, Anansa Sims appeared to accuse Matt Barnes of cheating on her in a post shared on Instagram. “Why Matt?? 8 different women in January,” she wrote, followed by a broken heart emoji. The couple have two children together, welcoming their second in October last year. In addition to their two kids, Barnes shares twin teenage sons with his ex-wife Gloria Govan, and Sims shares three children with her ex-husband David Patterson.
