Lawrence Taylor Arrested for Failing to Register as a Sex Offender for a Second Time

For the second time, former NFL star Lawrence Taylor has been arrested for failing to register as a sex offender.

Per TMZ, the 65-year-old NFL Hall of Famer was arrested in Florida this week because he did not register as a sex offender at his new address. Broward County jail officials said that he turned himself in to the authorities on Wednesday, July 17 on an outstanding felony warrant. He was briefly behind bars for the charge of failure to report name or residence change but was released on bail during the early hours of Thursday.

He was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in December 2021, making this the second time the New York Giants player and two-time Super Bowl champion has failed to meet the conditions expected of him as a sex offender. He will plead not guilty to the offense, according to his lawyer.

"My client, Lawrence Taylor, will be pleading 'Not Guilty' to the recent charges," said his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh. "As with the previous incident involving the same allegations, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit any criminal offense. This situation is a significant misunderstanding. We are confident that, once the prosecutors review the exculpatory evidence demonstrating Mr. Taylor's innocence, he will once again achieve a favorable outcome."
