James Harden and Chris Paul Reportedly Had a 'Tense Exchange' After Game 6 Loss

The Houston Rockets didn't fare too well against the Golden State Warriors in Game 6, and the Athletic reports that two of the team's star players clashed following their defeat. Shams Charania wrote that James Harden and Chris Paul had "tense moments with one another throughout Game 6," and they eventually took their frustration with one another out of the public eye.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed that the pair had a nasty "verbal exchange" in the locker room, and they eventually stormed off. Paul made his way to the postgame podium, although it's not clear what happened with Harden. In Game 6, the duo scored 62 points between them, with Harden leading the way with 35 points.

"There was something of a clash of styles brewing throughout the Rockets season," Charania add. Paul has reportedly spoken with head coach Mike D'Antoni on numerous times about their offense, and has been "pushing for more movement." The core of the problem with the team right now appears to be lack of direction, which is worrying for fans since D'Antoni is reportedly in talks to extend his contract for another three years.

The two players were excited to play together when Paul was traded in 2017, but it would appear their working relationship has deteriorated since. The Rockets were initially built to take down the Warriors, but if Paul and Harden's relationship really is fractured, their windoow might be closing sooner rather than later.
