Antonio Brown Signs $5 Million Deal With Music App to Further His Rap Career Plans

Brown, who is currently a free agent, has signed a $5 million deal to further his rap career plans. Brown previously announced he's president of Donda Sports.

Antonio Brown, who is currently a free agent, has signed a $5 million deal to be the face of the new TuneCore-backed streaming service Fwaygo Music.

The partnership with AB was announced on Instagram this week, in a stream featuring the founders of the company and the controversial wide receiver. “Fwaygo is the first move,” he said when asked what he plans to do after becoming a free agent. “Fwaygo is a platform that gives artists an independent opportunity to be able to drop.”

The video announcing the deal is accompanied by a clip of his track “Pit Not the Palace.” Brown has released a number of rap tracks throughout his career, and now that he’s not playing in the NFL he’s free to pursue his music career.

Fwaygo first launched last November, and prides itself on being a music platform that highlights independent artists. The app and service in general will offer a “first-of-its-kind music discovery experience.” Per a press release, independent music distributor TuneCore partnered with Fwaygo earlier this month. Young Thug is among the artists to have given a co-sign to the service already.

In an interview with Complex last month, Brown said that he immediately focused on his rap career following his messy exit from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers mid-game. “It’s a form of art—being creative and being expressive. When I’m not playing ball, which is my main thing, I love to create and make music,” he explained. “I know you guys heard the album Himmothy two summers ago, so I’m just continuing to work at the craft when I’m not doing the main thing.”

Earlier this month, he also announced that he’s been named the president of Kanye West’s Donda Sports.
