It's not unheard of for football fans to get into shouting matches with fans of other teams, but ABC's WBRZ2 reports that some fans took things way too far. According to police, officers responded to a call regarding a bar fight at the Ponchatoula Pub early Sunday (Nov. 4) morning with 46-year-old Alabama Crimson Tide fan Robert Bowers suffering from serious injuries after he was knocked out by two other men at the bar.

A volunteer firefighter on the scene provided emergency medical attention to Bowers until an ambulance arrived at the scene, transporting him to North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond. He was moved to University Medical Center later, where he was later pronounced dead on Tuesday (Nov. 6). Bowers' family were attempting to raise funds for his medical treatment, but after news broke that he had passed, family members announced that the donations would go towards supporting the family.

Bowers was reportedly a huge fan of Crimson Tide and was watching the game that took place earlier that day. Family members say they believe the attack was motivated by his love for Bama. The fight reportedly broke out over an argument regarding the game that happened that day, with 27-year-old Azia Crockett and 24-year-old Ryan Anthony identified as the attackers. They have both been arrested and charged with felony manslaughter.
